Top Anglers vs FishingBooker
There are two ways to book a fishing charter in Cabo San Lucas: directly with the charter company (online, by WhatsApp, phone or email), or through a marketplace like FishingBooker, TripAdvisor, Viator or GetYourGuide.
Disclosure: Top Anglers is a direct-booking charter company and does not use FishingBooker. Information about FishingBooker comes from its public website as of March 2026.

How each method works
FishingBooker is an online marketplace based in Norfolk, Virginia, that lists charters worldwide; in Cabo San Lucas it lists 100+ options. You pick a listing, pay a deposit on the platform, and the operator runs the trip.
Booking direct with Top Anglers, you choose the exact boat on our site, see live prices (from $453, one license included), send a request, and pay a 50% deposit through our secure link once the team confirms. The balance is paid at the dock.
The commission question
Platforms charge operators a commission on each booking. Either the price goes up to cover it, or the operator absorbs it and earns less per trip, which can affect which boat and crew a platform booking gets. When you book direct, there is no platform fee in the price.
Cancellations
On a platform, the platform’s cancellation rules apply and changes go through its support team. Booking direct with us: more than 72 hours before the trip, 75% refund; 72–48 hours, 50%; if the port is closed by the authorities, a full refund or a new date. You talk to the family, not a ticket queue.
When a platform makes sense
- You are comparing many operators in one place for the first time
- You want to pay in a currency or method the operator does not accept
- You value the platform’s review system over the operator’s Google reviews
When booking direct is better
- You want to choose the exact boat and captain
- You want all-inclusive pricing with no ambiguity: every inclusion is listed
- You want to talk to the people who organize your trip before, during and after
- You want your full payment to go to the operator
