FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Booking & Charter FAQ

  • Top Anglers charter prices range from $450 for a 23-foot panga to $2,300 for a 45-foot CABO Express full-day. Prices vary by boat size and trip duration — we offer half-day charters (approximately 5 hours) and full-day charters (approximately 8 hours). Every charter includes captain, crew, tackle, bait, fishing licenses, dock fees, and taxes. There are no hidden fees or booking commissions because you are dealing directly with the boat operator.

  • Yes. Half-day charters run approximately 5 hours and full-day charters run approximately 8 hours. Half-day trips are ideal for inshore fishing (roosterfish, sierra, snapper) and families with young children. Full-day trips allow time to reach offshore fishing grounds for marlin, tuna, dorado, and wahoo. Contact us to discuss which option is best for your target species and schedule.

  • Every charter includes: professional captain and crew, premium rods, reels, and tackle, live bait (when available), fishing licenses for all passengers, dock and marina fees, bottled water and ice, and all applicable taxes. You bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, comfortable clothing, non-slip shoes, food and drinks for your group, and a camera.

  • Yes — all passengers aboard a fishing vessel in Mexican waters must have a valid fishing license, even if they are not actively fishing. Top Anglers handles all fishing licenses as part of your charter booking. The cost is included — you do not need to arrange this separately or pay extra.

  • Billfish (marlin and sailfish) must be released under Mexican fishing regulations. Non-billfish species — including yellowfin tuna, dorado, wahoo, snapper, and roosterfish — may be kept within the daily bag limits set by Mexican authorities. Our crew will clean and fillet your catch at the dock at no extra charge. Many Cabo restaurants will cook your fresh catch the same day — ask us for recommendations.

  • Yes, it is customary in Cabo to tip the captain and crew 10–20% of the charter cost, depending on the quality of your experience. Tips are not included in the charter price and are given directly to the crew at the end of your trip. Our crews work hard to make every trip memorable.

  • Absolutely. We welcome anglers of all experience levels, including complete beginners and families with children. Our crew provides patient instruction, handles all equipment, and tailors the trip to your skill level. For families with young children, we recommend a half-day inshore trip on a panga — the action is close to shore, the smaller boat is more engaging, and the shorter duration keeps kids happy.

  • Safety always comes first. If the port is closed by authorities or the captain determines conditions are unsafe, your trip will be rescheduled or refunded in full. For cancellations made by guests: more than 72 hours before the trip receives a 75% refund, 72–48 hours receives a 50% refund, and less than 48 hours receives no refund. Our team monitors marine forecasts closely and will contact you the evening before if conditions look questionable. Cabo enjoys over 300 days of sunshine per year, so weather cancellations are rare.

  • Bring sunscreen (reef-safe preferred), polarized sunglasses, a hat, comfortable clothing, non-slip shoes or sandals, a light jacket (mornings on the water can be cool), food and drinks for your group, motion sickness medication if you are prone to seasickness, and a camera or phone for photos. We provide all fishing equipment, bait, ice, water, and licenses.

  • Yes. Top Anglers has competed in multiple Bisbee's Black & Blue tournaments, and the crew of our 45' CABO Express won the 2025 edition. We have organized international championships including a CIPS-M Big Game World Championship and the 2024 German National Championship. We hold the Nautical Pathfinder Trusted Charter designation — the only Cabo charter company with this certification. We offer tournament participation packages that include registration support, logistics, and experienced captains who know tournament strategy. Contact us well in advance for tournament season bookings — particularly October for Bisbee's.

  • Most charters depart between 6:00 and 7:00 AM from Marina Principal in Cabo San Lucas. We recommend arriving at the marina 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Your captain and crew will have the boat prepped, fueled, and ready to go. Live bait is purchased fresh that morning. Exact departure time will be confirmed when you book.

  • Marina Principal is in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas, walking distance from most downtown hotels. If you are staying along the Tourist Corridor between Cabo and San José del Cabo (including resorts like Hilton Los Cabos, Hyatt Ziva, Waldorf Astoria, or Grand Velas), the marina is approximately 15–30 minutes by taxi or rideshare. We can also help arrange hotel pickup — contact us when booking to discuss transportation options.

  • Yes — this is one of the best Cabo traditions. After our crew cleans and fillets your catch at the dock, you can take it to a nearby restaurant that will prepare it for you. Several restaurants near the marina specialize in cooking your fresh catch — grilled, pan-seared, as tacos, ceviche, or sashimi. Ask our crew for their current recommendations.

  • Contact Top Anglers directly by phone (+52 624 122-1643) or email (topanglers@gmail.com). Because we are the boat owners and operators — not a booking platform or reseller — there are no booking fees, no commissions, and no middleman markups. Many websites advertising Cabo fishing charters are agencies that add 15–25% in commission fees. When you book with Top Anglers, 100% of your payment goes to the people who operate your boat.
