Top Anglers Sportfishing Charters was founded by Victor Vargas in 2004 at the Cabo San Lucas Marina. What started as a single-boat operation built on Victor's deep knowledge of the local waters has grown into one of the most respected charter companies in Baja California Sur — with a fleet of 13 vessels, a family-run team, and tournament credentials that speak for themselves.

Our captains compete at the highest level of international sport fishing. The Vargas family has organized two major international tournaments — a CIPS-M Big Game Fishing World Championship and the 2024 German National Championship. At the 33rd World Championship in France, founder Victor Vargas captained a team that placed first on two of the three fishing days. Top Anglers has competed in multiple Bisbee's Black & Blue tournaments, and the crew of our 45' CABO Express won the 2025 Bisbee's. Jason Bailey, part of the Top Anglers team, earned a bronze medal representing Team USA at the 2025 Pan-American Billfish Championship in Panama.

Today, the second generation of the Vargas family runs the daily operations. Victor Jr oversees the fleet and fishing operations. Max handles marketing, strategy, and guest relations. Nathalia manages the administrative side. And Victor Sr remains the beating heart of the operation — still at the marina, still on the water, still making sure every trip meets the standard he set in 2004.

We are the only charter company in Cabo to receive the Nautical Pathfinder Trusted Charter designation, recognizing our commitment to safety, service, and responsible fishing practices.
