Frequently Asked Questions
What is a panga fishing boat?
A panga is a traditional Mexican fishing boat — an open-hull, outboard-powered vessel between 22-26 feet. Pangas are the backbone of the Cabo San Lucas fishing fleet. They are nimble, fuel-efficient, and can access shallow inshore areas that larger sportfishers cannot reach. Ideal for roosterfish, dorado, snapper, and nearshore species.
Is a panga good for beginners?
Yes. Pangas are excellent for first-time anglers, couples, and small groups. The intimate setting means personalized attention from the captain, and inshore fishing produces fast action with frequent bites — keeping everyone engaged. It is also our most affordable charter at $450 for a half-day.
Can a panga go offshore for marlin?
Pangas are designed for inshore and nearshore fishing. For marlin, sailfish, and other offshore species, we recommend a 30-foot or larger sportfisher. However, during peak season, dorado, marlin, and even yellowfin tuna can be caught on a panga when conditions allow.
